This is a massive event for Pakistan as they need to win the Asia Cup 2013 in order to keep their Hockey World Cup qualification alive. This was because of the very poor and disappointing performance by the Pakistan national hockey team in the recent event of World Hockey League 2013 where they were unable to make themselves qualify for the major event of the World cup. So despite of all such circumstances anything less than the Asia Cup winner’s medal will put Pakistan qualification in World Cup in serious doubt.

Pakistan recalled couple of senior players has been dropped and a couple has been brought back like Waseem Ahmed a player with much international hockey experience. Pakistan team will be looking forward to make a major impact in this upcoming event in Malaysia because their world cup appearance is on stake which they cannot ignore for any cause. Pakistan team had a very favorable training camp during the previous month of Ramadan which carried throughout the month and as per the team management and the coach they are very much confident and hopeful for a much better performance and results in this Asia Cup as compared to what they attained in the recent World Hockey League.
