Pakistan Team Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2013
ICC Champions trophy is considered to be the second largest international competition of Cricket in which top eight teams in the ICC ranking take part. ICC has scheduled the tournament to start in the month of June in England. It was hard to select the squad for the upcoming tournament because of the inconsistency in the batting and fielding of the team. Pakistan Cricket Board announced the squad for Champions Trophy, although it is a well balanced squad with balanced combination of the youngsters and the experience. Pakistan team will miss Boom Boom Afridi as he is being left out of the team for the Champions trophy because of his poor form in the recent tournaments. Although in the previous series he was the second highest run scorer but still in 37 Over’s he bowled in the entire tournament he was unable to pick up a single wicket which was a big disappointment as lot was expected from his bowling.
The energetic and young middle order batsman Umar Akmal is also being left out from the squad due to very poor performance and unprofessional attitude in the recent matches, besides these two players Sohail Tanweer is also amongst those who are left out for the tournament. Umar Gul is injured and his participation in the tournament is very much doubtful so the bowling responsibilities will fall on the young fast bowlers which includes Wahab Riaz, Ehsan Adil, Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan and in the spin department Pakistan will have the services of the magician Saeed Ajmal and the left arm orthodox spinner Abdur Rehman. Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik and Asad Ali, are also included in the team which can be the two all-rounders in the playing eleven for the team.
